Porsche 356 AT2 from 1958
As you will see in the "Reassembling" chapter,
the goal was to have the car back on the wheels to go to the body shop.
Front closing panels left and right,
nearly the same job !
The next pictures show the last part of
the body's preparation before the painting job.

And finally ! ! ! We are very happy
with the result of the "huge work" done on the body ! ! !
My whish was to paint the car with the
original "Silver Metallic" number "608". All the paint mixing formulas are
available on the Glassurit web site. But be very careful with the data from
that site. We tried several times several "Silver Metallic" formulas on a test
sheet and it was totally different of what we expected. After discussions with
a lot of people it appears that the "old" formulas can't be used with actual
paint and pigments. That's why we used the first Porsche 911 paint whish is
perfect for me !

See the "re-assembling" chapter for the
end of the restoration . . .
Front strut reinforcement !

Same traces of the years everywhere...
And here starts the serious things !
At first with the dismantling of all the
bad body panels like the door's thresholds . . .

Well, here started our work ! ! !
The car was completely dismantled and set on
a trailer's axle in order to be moved. We could notice, on the next photos, the
fixation for the rotissery on the bumper's position. The car was placed on a rotissery for the sandblasting and anti-rust painting, Easier and more efficient!

We could see on these pictures the
trace of previous repairing.
A huge amount of work to do on the
bodywork !
The battery box needs to be
replace !

The engine compartment . . .
It's now the time of body's repairing ! !
!

The bottom of the battery box needs of
course to be replace.
Not very easy to remove all the welding
spots !

Front fender braces after some
modifications . . .

The right side of the car . . . Good work isn't it ?

The same work for the left side . . .

The driver's side door bottom had to be
replace !

My father and me during the sandblasting
work under our "scuba" !

We have now finished the big part of the
job ! All the bad or rusted body parts were replaced ! This work ended, we
decided to remake a very light sandblasting of the body to remove all the
traces of rust appeared
during the welding work . . .

Here are some of the removed body parts
!
What a change when looking at the bottom
of the car with all the new body parts !

Here are now some pictures taken after
the sandblasting and the painting with
anti-rust.
We start slowly to see the end of the tunnel ! ! !

The next step was the application of a
"pulverisable mastic" ( Teroson 9320 ) to avoid the
penetration of water
between the several body parts.

These pictures show the bottom of the car,
the inside of the car, the inside of the front trunk and engine trunk covered
with a black satin paint like originally. Not too bad isn't it ?
